Gerardo met Delmy at an event sponsored by one of our farmers, Evelyn. The event focused on bringing farmers together to present and cup each other’s coffees, and Delmy immediately stood out for both her professionalism and her exceptional palate. She approached each coffee with remarkable attentiveness and gave thoughtful, detailed feedback. When Gerardo tasted her coffee, he noticed that same level of precision and care—her cup showcased outstanding notes of berries, orange, and chocolate.
Delmy founded “Cihcafe” or “Cipotes Hondureños en Café” in 2024, an organization focused on elevating the farming craft for farmers 21-25 years old. As a 22 year old farmer, this cause hits close to home. “I’ve always believed that young people in Honduras have tremendous potential; unfortunately, our country doesn’t focus on harnessing this and developing opportunities for the next generation,” Delmy says. “Coffee is a huge sector…since I was born at the front of the value chain, I realized that true wealth lies in our lands.”
Delmy’s ultimate goal is to make the young people of Honduras believe in the value of what they have in their hands (coffee and land), and create opportunities for a dignified and sustainable life in her community. With every cup of Delmy’s coffee you purchase, you’re helping to further this goal.
